Laura Ingalls Wilder Presentation

March 7, 2016

Laura Ingalls Wilder will be coming to the New Ipswich Library on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at 7PM!

Melanie Stringer will present a research-based, first-person interactive history lesson to Wilder fans of all ages. The program will feature original research, hands-on artifact displays, period-authentic clothing and much more.

As a New England-based historian specializing in American Social History, Melanie focuses on the daily lives, education, and occupational opportunities of women and children during the period of American Settlement to 1960. This program will feature Wilder in 1895 as a young wife, mother, and farmwoman.

Melanie Stringer holds a BA in American Literature and History from Plymouth State University. A charter member and committee chair of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Legacy and Research Association, Melanie was recently elected and serves on the board of that organization. Her research is in preparation for her first book-length publication and is the basis for her “Meet Laura Ingalls Wilder” living history presentations.

A donation for the St. Vincent-DePaul Food Pantry in Greenville would be gratefully appreciated. This program is made possible through the generosity of the Stearns-Burton Foundation.
